Today the kids and I made leaf collages... we collected pretty fall leaves, dried and pressed them, and used paint, crayons and glue (along with the leaves) to each create our own interpretation of autumn.... at least that is how I choose to remember it. The real story.... I made Eric stop the car full of crying hungry children so that I could dash around grabbing the prettiest leaves from someone's yard. We held up traffic and the kids were not impressed. I pressed the leaves and then drug out every craft supply we owned and told the kids to go to it. Eli and Ava gracefully shared the watercolors for, ohh, about 3.7 seconds. Fighting, tears, and some mud, um, paint slinging ensued. I glued Eli's leaves for him. While my back was turned, Ava painted the floor blue. Eli spent 10 minutes squalling because he couldn't get the safety scissors to work while Ava repeatedly glued her hands together and pulled them apart with rubber cement. I called the project to an end when crayons began to get thrown and Ava was crunching and "sprinkling" her leaves. I gave them a snack and made my own leaf collage. Maybe we'll try again when they are 28 and 30.

Lovin' autumn

Looks like ancient runes to me. Look at you raising such culturally sensitive kids!
And this is why I hate crafts. Seriously. My children will not learn to draw and paint until they're twenty, because I would rather put my eyes out with child-proof scissors then let them make a collage.
You're a good mom.
Looks like a crazy fun day!!! After finding out what Eli's pumpkin is, I must say that he did a good job! (I won't say how I found out though...) ;)
It looks like an African tribal mask.Perhaps the immunity idol on "Survivor" Love You All! Papaw
Hey girl...sorry I've been MIA for a while. As you can appreciate, we've been very busy though I'm trying to get back in the "blogging world" to record it all :o} You are soooo crafty and the leaf project was a success in my eyes (if you hadn't informed us anything had went astray who would have known...). It's beautiful! As far as Eli's pumpkin, my guess is Mator, ya know like Ta-Mator without the Ta :) Have a Happy Halloween! What are the kids dressing up as? Ours are going to be little pirates.
I like those collages - kudos to the parents!
I like Eli's Thomas the Train pumpkin, too.
