An Argument For Larger Families

Recently, we had the opportunity to watch some children of a friend of Ness'. (Apparently other couples enjoy "adult only weekends" too.) And after spending over 48 hours alone with 4 children ages 2,3,4, and 6, I have come to one indisputable belief. It IS easier to watch four kids than 2. For one thing, they have each other to bother instead of me. And second, it doesn't feel nearly as "dirtbag dad" to say "Just go outside and play with the other kids". And so my role ended up being a food provider, entertainment getter, and argument settler. But at least I wasn't activities director (which is the part of the job that takes so much energy!)

The slip and slide was probably the best $5 purchase in the history of $5 purchases. Endless fun.

Anybody want to have Dora for breakfast?

Of course, children coming over always includes a healthy dose of TRAMPOLINE-ing.

They all had such a good time here. And so there was much wailing, crying, and moping when our friends had to leave ... and Ava was sad too.

And the award for Most Understanding In A Crisis Situation goes to ...Circe. Seriously, you try going for two days being picked up CONSTANTLY by four children and not hide. Circe kept coming out to play. Like I've stated before, we have a Crazy Cat.

Welcome to "Diggitville"...population...us.

Bonus points if you noticed the temporary tattoo on his right arm (thats been there a week), the purple toenail polish on his toes (don't ask), and the beer bottle behind him. All he needs now is a lo jack and a spittoon. My...we are classy.... gotta go...I'm burning the corn bread and yams.

Back To Normal ... Sort of

Well, things are sort of back to normal here. It is summer break and I am currently on the hunt for a full time position as a teacher - whether UK or USA (DODEA) is unknown. The children are back to playing every day and occasionally learning something. And Ness is full-blown crazy at work right now. Nurses keep ending their time with the USAF but no replacement nurses are arriving. A VERY EXCITING TIME BEING HAD AT THE L&D UNIT RIGHT NOW!!!!!! (Insert sound of Ness screaming insanely here.)
Well, there is one small announcement to be had. Tired of being in a house on continual lockdown, I have collared and let loose our nutzo cat Circe. And she is loving it. And the house finally has some fresh air.

We're Still Here

This is for those of you who may be wondering ... where are they?!?!?!? And to answer that question (for the 7 of you that read this daily), I took the kids to the states for a surprise visit to ALL the grandparents. (Poor Ness stayed home and missed them terribly - no joke here.)
First we visited Grandpa and Grandma Conderman in Jacksonville, FLORIDA! And it was there that the children got a fantastic and tiring lesson about the power of the ocean. So the first day in Florida with G&G Conderman and they ended up like this ...

The second day of the beach and they looked like this afterward ...
But seriously they had a wonderful time in Florida. Here are some pics of them playing on the beach.

Unfortunately, I believe I have finally lost the Father of the Year award by not taking any pictures of them playing in the yard, eating food, playing piano, or ANY of their time in Indiana with Grammy and then Mimi and Papaw. But I heard that it was great. So THANKS to all the grandparents out there and just know that right now as I write Ness is upstairs separating the two monsters because of fighting ... and loving every second of it.
